FRIED PIES

2 cups dried apricots
1 pint pineapples with juice
3 apples or pears
1 cup sugar
1 t cinnamon
½ t nutmeg
¼ t allspice
2 cups milk
½ cup lard
1 t salt
1 t baking soda
1 t baking powder
flour
Cook first 4 ingredients until mixture is like jam. Add cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Let cool. Set aside. Mix milk, lard, salt, soda and baking powder. Add enough flour, gradually to make stiff dough. Let stand 20 minutes. Form into balls. Roll out on floured board. Use saucer to cut into circles and put 1 spoonful of fruit mixture in center and fold over and press edges with your fingers to seal. Fry in deep hot lard until golden in color. Makes 24 pies.
