LIFE AND DEATH PUDDING
by Becky Melendez

This is good to do with your children or a Sunday school class.

2 20 oz. cans crushed pineapple (undrained)
1 pint whipping cream (whipped)
2 4oz pkgs. pistachio pudding
1 jar marshmallow cream

Put pineapple in a bowl. Say: have you ever noticed that pineapple stings your mouth when you have a cut or sore in your mouth. The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. When we say mean words to people it stings (hurts) them. If we hurt someone with our words we need to ask them and Jesus to forgive us. Then put in the whipped cream and say: when we ask forgiveness the Bible says that Jesus forgives us and that our sins are washed as white as snow. Add the pudding and say: Green reminds us of new life. We have new life in Jesus. Add the marshmallow cream and say: White looks very clean, after we ask Jesus into our heart we are clean, the Bible says that God doesn’t even remember our sin after we have asked forgiveness. Pray with the children then enjoy the pudding.

Options:

You can use whip crème in a can. Have the kids each squirt some out. Then pass the can back around and tell them to put the whip crème back in. Explain that words are like the whip crème, you can’t take them back after they have been spoken. Red candied cherries can represent our sin and/or Jesus shed blood.
